May Festival Auditions

MAY FESTIVAL CHORUS AUDITIONS
The Cincinnati May Festival Chorus holds auditions in late August and early September. This premier ensemble not only performs a series of five concerts during the May Festival but also functions as the chorus in residence for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Cincinnati Pops. Additional auditions may be held in January.

Those auditioning will be expected to perform two vocal solos, one in English and one in a foreign language. Vocalization and sight reading are also required elements of the audition process.

Regular May Festival Chorus rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 -10:00 PM at Music Hall. In addition, there are some Saturday rehearsal requirements as well as evening rehearsals during concert weeks. A complete rehearsal and performance schedule is available upon request.

MAY FESTIVAL YOUTH CHORUS AUDITIONS
Students are selected for membership in the May Festival Youth Chorus through auditions held in September and January. Students in grades 9-12 from area public, private and parochial schools who participate in their high school music programs are eligible to audition. Students who are homeschooled may also audition.

James Bagwell, director, will be holding auditions on Sunday, January 18, 2009 at Knox Presbyterian Church. Audition requirements are a prepared solo, classical in nature, and sight reading.
