May Festival Community Chorus Sounds of the City
Join the May Festival Community Chorus at the Sounds of the City concert on May 19th at Music Hall!
Hundreds of singers from Cincinnati and beyond will fill the Music Hall stage in a concert that showcases the high level of choral singing in our community. The program includes a special focus on the music of 2019 May Festival Creative Partner James MacMillan.
The Community Chorus will perform works by Benjamin Britten and Ralph Vaughan Williams under the direction of Robert Porco, Director of Choruses for the May Festival, and Juanjo Mena, Principal Conductor of the May Festival. Additionally, James MacMillan will conduct the Community Chorus in a performance of one of his own compositions.
Rehearsals will be held 10 am-1 pm in the May Festival Rehearsal Room at Music Hall on:
Saturday, March 30
Saturday, April 6
Saturday, April 27
Saturday, May 4
Additionally, a rehearsal will be held on stage during the afternoon of May 19 at a time to be announced. The concert begins at 7 pm.
The May Festival Community Chorus is open to all interested singers who can commit to the rehearsal schedule and to the preparation of the concert repertoire. Previous participation in a May Festival ensemble is not required, and new singers are always welcome. If you have questions about participating, contact Matthew Swanson, Associate Director of Choruses, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
