upcoming May Festival Choruses Busy Holiday Season

There are many opportunities to hear both the May Festival Chamber Choir and the May Festival Youth Chorus in December! On Saturday, December 8 the Youth Chorus is performing on CCM’s Feast of Carols at 5 pm. The following day, Sunday December 9, they will perform at the Taft Museum of Art at 2:30 pm.

There are two chances to hear Handel’s Messiah on December 15 & 16 with the Cincinnati Symphony and the Chamber Choir, under the direction of Jane Glover. Click here for details.

 

giftA City That Sings Authors Discuss Book

On Sunday, December 16, the four authors of A City That Sings: Cincinnati’s Choral Tradition will share their insights at the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra’s Classical Conversation beginning at 1 pm at Music Hall, prior to the performance of Handel’s Messiah. Frank Pendle, Karin Pendle, Craig Doolin and Catherine Roma wrote about the everyday people who gave their souls and voices to found and continue Cincinnati’s strong choral tradition. Following the conversation, the authors will be available in the lobby to sign copies of A City That Sings.

On December 15 & 16 the Vocal Arts Ensemble will present A Candlelit Christmas. Joining VAE this season is the Cincinnati Boychoir, VAE’s Artistic Partner for the 2012–2013 Season, presenting cherished holiday music. May Festival Soloist at the Met

Tenor Alek Shrader can be heard on WGUC in December on the Metropolitan Opera’s Radio Broadcast. On December 22 at 1pm you can hear him sing the role of Count Almaviva in Rossini’s Barber of Seville, and on December 29 at 1 pm you can hear him in the role of Ferdinand in Adès’ The Tempest.
