Overview of May Festival 2011 Season

Audience members and critics alike enjoyed performances by the versatile May Festival Chorus, exquisite work from sixteen guest soloists, the May Festival Youth Chorus, Cincinnati Boychoir, and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Music Director James Conlon, Director of Choruses, Robert Porco and Director of the May Festival Youth Chorus, James Bagwell. Cincinnati is blessed with a musical experience that is unparalleled anywhere else in the world. May Festival is unique and is the culmination of more than 40,000 volunteer hours in rehearsals and performances given by more than 200 singers. As June 30 fast approaches, marking the end of our fiscal year, we are very close to making this our 21st consecutive year of operating "in the black". Please consider making a contribution and personally participating in the continued success of the Cincinnati May Festival.

Interested in Singing All Year with the May Festival Chorus?

May Festival Chorus will be holding auditions on July 23 and August 20. The 2011-12 season begins with performances in September with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, followed by Prokofiev’s Alexander Nevsky in November and Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloe Suites 1 and 2, in January with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Downing New Board Officers Take the Stage

At the Cincinnati May Festival Board of Trustees’ June Annual Meeting new Board Officers were announced as well as title changes to better reflect the work that is being done by two Administrative staff members. In addition nine new Board members were elected to three-year terms for the May Festival Board. The new officers elected to the Board include Kelley J. Downing as Chair, Shane Starkey as Vice Chair, Mark Holcomb as Treasurer and Mary Gimpel as Secretary. Tom Neyer, Jr. will become the Past Chair of the Board. Click here for the media release.
